Why did I become an #ophthalmologist?- Dr. Kendall Donaldson
Why did I become an ophthalmologist? đ§ Itâs a question Dr. Kendall Donaldson gets asked all the time, and her story is as inspiring as it is personal. Growing up, she struggled with poor vision that no one caught at first. In third grade, she was constantly in trouble for copying off classmates because she simply couldnât see the board. When her teacher called her parents, everything changedâshe got her first pair of glasses (a very thick minus five prescription), but with them came teasing and tough moments as a kid. Instead of letting it get her down, it sparked her curiosity. For her third-grade science fair, she built a working model of the eye and won first place, setting the foundation for her lifelong dream of becoming an eye surgeon. Fast forward to today, Dr. Donaldson is a corneal refractive and cataract surgeon at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, helping others improve their vision in ways she once dreamed about as a child. Sheâs giving back the gift of sightâand fulfilling a dream that started at just eight years old. đ #womeninmedicine #womenineyecare #ophthalmology #femaleleaders #femalesurgeon
