Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 12, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how iD Social (“iD Social,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares personal information when you visit our website. It also describes your privacy rights, including those under the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and United States privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).

Overview

We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information transparently. We only collect data we need to operate this website and, where required, we ask for your consent before using non-essential technologies such as analytics cookies.

Who we are

iD Social is a video destination for the eyecare community. For the purposes of the GDPR, iD Social is the “data controller” responsible for your personal information. You can reach us at info@idsocial.com.

Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Information you provide. When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address and your consent to receive emails.
  • Usage & device data. With your consent, we collect analytics data such as pages visited, referring pages, approximate location (derived from IP, not stored in identifiable form), browser type, and device information.
  • Cookies & similar technologies. See the Cookies & tracking section below.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information, and we do not sell your personal information.

How we use your information

  • To operate, maintain, and secure our website.
  • To send you newsletter emails you have subscribed to.
  • To understand how visitors use our site so we can improve content and performance (only with your consent).
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

Cookies & tracking

We use two categories of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Strictly necessary - required for the site to function (for example, remembering your cookie preference). These are always active and do not require consent.
  • Analytics (non-essential)- help us measure and improve the site. These load only after you select “Accept all” in our cookie banner.

When you first visit, our cookie banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which will make the banner reappear. Video players on our site use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, which does not set tracking cookies until you press play.

Third-party services

We use the following processors, each with their own privacy practices:

  • Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.) - to manage our newsletter and store subscriber email addresses.
  • Vercel Analytics - privacy-friendly, cookie-based analytics loaded only with your consent.
  • YouTube (Google LLC) - to embed videos in privacy-enhanced mode. Google may process data when you play a video.

How we share information

We share personal information only with the service providers listed above so they can perform services on our behalf, and where required by law. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under US privacy laws.

Data retention

We keep newsletter subscriber data until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Analytics data is retained only for as long as needed to understand site usage trends. We delete or anonymize personal information when it is no longer required.

Your rights (EU/UK)

If you are in the EU or UK, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request erasure of your data (“right to be forgotten”).
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Request data portability.
  • Withdraw consent at any time.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To exercise these rights, email us at info@idsocial.com.

Your rights (US / California)

Depending on your US state of residence (including under the California CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect and how we use it.
  • Request access to or deletion of your personal information.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information - we do not sell or share your personal information.
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.

To make a request, contact us at info@idsocial.com. We will verify your request and respond within the timeframe required by law.

International data transfers

Our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where personal information is transferred out of the EU/UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms offered by those providers.

Children's privacy

Our website is intended for eyecare professionals and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can delete it.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes may be highlighted on the site.
