Mastering the "first cut"
That first puncture in your #capsulorhexis can make or break the rest of the case. Here are two tips that help: 🔹 Start your puncture right at the Purkinje images and angle down at about 45°. This positions the flap edge just beneath the main wound making it easier to access with your forceps. 🔹 Make that first cut around 2.5 mm. That gives you the right radius for a 5 to 5.5 mm rhexis. Once you lift the flap, stay wound-neutral and focus on maintaining that radius like a compass. If you need a guide, marked forceps are a great tool. #Ophthalmology #Eyecare #CataractSurgery
